I have been reading this great book about intuitive eating and have been practicing today what I have learned. The first thing I have noticed is that I really don’t need as much food as I think I do. There are many reasons that I eat more than I should, some being as simple as the food is right there in front of me. Today when I went out for lunch, I boxed up half my lunch before I even started eating and was pleasantly surprised that I was full after eating half of what I normally do. I have also been telling myself that “nothing is off limits,” as this book talks about how the act of just telling ourselves we can’t eat something makes us want to eat it. And again, surprisingly it was very freeing to know that I can eat anything, and yet not really want it and eat it at the same time. Finally, I have been paying attention to my hunger signals. This is a new thing for me as I am used to eating out of boredom or because it is “lunch time”, etc. Listening to my body was very empowering. Overall it was a great learning day! I look forward to continue intuitively eating tomorrow!
