Day 46 – OnePinky.com…In Giving We Receive

Dear Leah;

I hope you have a happy sunny day. And if the time of the month feels challenging, know that there are millions of women out there feeling the same way. Does not take away the hormonal stuff going on and I know for me I feel less alone.

Today was a bitter sweet day in that I have been in such happy spirits and the sun was shining here all day and we had warm weather. It was lovely…

Now for the bitter part, bitter is not really  the right word. The sad part is that I went to a memorial of someone who killed himself last month.

Sad and true. This man Tom had a very kind heart and could not see his own light. He drown his sorrows in addictions and he was a giver and here is the lesson about giving.

Cause I love to give and I know the same is true for you lovely Leah! Giver in this world that you are.

I, too, would give the shirt off my back.

I have learned through trial and error, through both joyful and challenging situations, the difference between giving for getting and giving for the sake of giving.

I say that because sometimes givers have a strong “need to please”, “to feel like loved” and “to feel good about themselves”,  etc.

The problem is the outside world will never give any of us the formula to feel good inside. That must come from within each and every one of us. Now don’t get me wrong, I love receiving compliments and positive feedback matters. However, it does not stick to our soul the way it does when we give ourselves, our selves.

I can look at all the years in my life I over gave to feel better about myself. The problem is  humans sell ourselves short when we give for reasons other than a genuine  heart centered desire to serve in some way.   So while I believe that when we give we receive..that is different Leah than giving to get something.

I hope that this resonates with you and comes to you at the right moment. Here is what I know for sure…that you are heart centered and give so much!

You my dear Leah are learning and loving and letting go through every word you write everyday and your outpouring of energy that goes into each and every daily post.

To that I am forever grateful.
