Loving your body can be as simple as loving a single finger on your hand. When Laura Fenamore began her personal Body Image Revolution, and could find nothing about herself to love, a friend suggested she try just one pinky.
“You have to start somewhere,” she was told.
Twenty-one years later, the loving remark has stayed with Laura, who has since discovered the joys of loving her entire body.
We can all start today by loving “OnePinky”.

Why One?

One life, with each other; sisters, brothers… One life, but we’re not the same.
We carry each other, carry each other, one…” – “One” by U2
We are born one. One means all; it’s about togetherness. We are all one, and we need each other.
One stands for unity, but also individualism; mathematicians call it the “Identity Element.”
In Hinduism, the number one symbolizes saguna Brahman, who projects the entire creation,
world, and even gods from himself. If one knows him, one is said to know all. One also
represents the atman, or soul, and the oneness of all existence.
Taiji, a Mystical Number of Taoism, uses one as the Order, or the Ultimate. One also symbolizes
the essence of all that there is—unity and diversity, essence and existence, the permanent and
the ephemeral.
In numerology, number one is considered to have great power. Seen as the origin of all things,
it represents charisma, love, perfection, and happiness. It also represents individualism,
and even a bit of selfishness.
Shouldn’t we all make ourselves number one in our lives?

Why Pink?
Pink is a powerful color. Historically, pink has been linked to inferiority with little girls, and because of
that many mothers have opted to shun the color for more gender neutral tones. Despite its past, today
pink, like our very selves, has been renewed of energy, purpose, and power.
Healers believe pink represents world acceptance, and that it holds all colors. It is said to be the color
underneath others. Pink is typically the symbol of universal love. According to the AURA-SOMA® system,
the color pink is all about self-love, compassion, tenderness, warmth and intuition. It also represents
unconditional love—which is what we need to give our bodies.
Also the color of freshness, health, gratitude, femininity and purity, pink can stand for what we allow into
our bodies and what we want our bodies to be. In sacred rituals, pink is often used for relaxation,
acceptance, calming feelings, and neutralizing chaos. What better color to use to heal ourselves
than pink?

Why Pinkies?
The pinky seems so innocuous, so delicate—like an accessory of the hand. Watching it tip
daintily as high ladies drink tea, you might never guess that without it, one would easily lose
a whopping 50% of his or her hand strength! Along with the ring finger, the pinky provides
the power of the hand, making it much more important than people might guess.
In palmistry, the pinky is known as the Mercury finger; it is related to communications,
computers, media and writing. For Spiritual Guitarists, the pinky is linked to the element of Air,
which is the element of the East. Air is related to powers of the mind, communication, truth,
and intellect.
Promises are made with the pinky (pinky promises, or pinky swears), and they can never be
broken. When someone is willing to do anything a person asks—often with a child—they are
said to be wrapped around the person’s little finger.
But the pinky also doesn’t have much protection, and suffers double the number of injuries
the other four fingers experience. That’s another great reason to appreciate, protect, and love
our pinkies.
